About the platform

What is People & Media?

People & Media is a curated platform for curious readers and lifelong learners. We publish in-depth articles, a growing library of quotes, expert-led online courses, and we host a private community of paying members where the conversations actually go somewhere.

Who is it for?

People who like to read more than three sentences in a row. Investors, entrepreneurs, students, writers, professionals, and anyone who wants to think about business, philosophy, technology, geopolitics, investing and the people who shape these worlds — without an algorithm choosing on their behalf.

How is People & Media different from social media or news sites?

Three differences. First, the community side is for paying members only — no anonymous accounts, no bots, no drive-by negativity. Second, you decide what you follow; we don’t use an engagement algorithm. Third, our editorial line answers to readers, not advertisers.


Reading and free content

Do I need an account to read?

No. Most articles, quotes and our public podcast episodes are free and don’t require an account. A free Reader account lets you save items and subscribe to our newsletter.

What’s the difference between a free Reader and a paying Member?

Free Readers can browse public articles and quotes, listen to free podcast episodes and receive the newsletter. Paying Members unlock the full course library, member-only podcasts and archives, the verified community (profiles, direct messages, groups), live monthly Q&A sessions and member-only collections.

How do I sign up for the newsletter?

Create a free account on the register page and you’ll be subscribed automatically. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link at the bottom of any newsletter, or from your account settings.

What does membership cost?

€9.99 per month. One plan, one price — everything is included. Cancel any time.

What exactly is included?

Can I try it first?

Yes. New memberships come with a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first paid month. If it isn’t for you, write to us within 30 days of your first charge and we’ll refund you in full.

How do I cancel?

Cancel any time from My Account → Subscriptions. Your access continues until the end of the month you’ve already paid for; you won’t be charged again. Cancellations don’t require an explanation, but we always read the feedback you leave us.

Will my price ever go up?

If we change our pricing, we’ll always email existing members at least 30 days in advance. We’ve never raised the price of an existing subscription mid-term.


Community and safety

Why is the community for paying members only?

Because the small fee filters for people who actually want to be here. It’s the simplest, fairest way we’ve found to keep the space free of throwaway accounts, bots and anonymous trolls. Everyone who can post inside the community has a real account, a profile and a name attached to what they say.

Are members verified?

Membership requires a real email address and a verified payment method, which means every active participant is identifiable to us. We don’t do public ID checks — that would be overkill — but we do moderate, and we don’t tolerate harassment, spam or impersonation.

What are the community rules?

Be civil. Disagree with ideas, not with people. Don’t post spam, illegal content, or anything that wouldn’t be appropriate in a respectful conversation with strangers. Full guidelines are linked from inside the community and in our Terms and Conditions.

How do I report a problem?

Use the report button on any post or message inside the community, or email admin@peopleandmedia.com. We respond to safety reports within one business day.


Courses

How do online courses work?

Each course is a structured set of lessons (text, video and audio) you can take at your own pace from any device. Your progress is saved automatically. Members get access to every course included in the library; non-members can purchase individual courses where available.

Do I get a certificate?

Most courses include a certificate of completion you can download once you’ve finished all lessons.

How long do I have access to a course I’ve bought?

If you bought a single course, your access is unlimited. If you have access via membership, you keep access for as long as your membership is active.


Payments and billing

Which payment methods do you accept?

iDEAL, credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), Bancontact, SEPA Direct Debit, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Available methods may vary by country and product.

Are payments secure?

Yes. All payments are processed by our PCI-compliant payment providers (Stripe and Mollie). We never see or store your full card details on our own servers.

Where can I find my invoice?

Invoices are emailed to you after each payment, and are also available from My Account → Orders.

I was charged but my access didn’t activate.

This is almost always a delayed webhook from the payment provider. Wait a few minutes and refresh your account page. If the issue persists, email us at admin@peopleandmedia.com with your order number and we’ll fix it manually.


Account and privacy

How do I change my email or password?

Go to My Account → Settings to update your email, password and notification preferences.

How do I delete my account?

From My Account → Settings → Delete account, or by emailing admin@peopleandmedia.com. We delete personal data on request, except where we’re legally required to retain financial records.

What do you do with my data?

We use your data to run the platform, deliver the services you’ve paid for, send communications you’ve asked for, and keep things secure. We don’t sell personal data to third parties. The full picture is in our Privacy Policy.


Writers, teachers and partners

Can I write for People & Media?

We’re always reading pitches from journalists, essayists, researchers and domain experts. Send a one-paragraph pitch and a couple of links to your previous work to admin@peopleandmedia.com.

Can I teach a course?

Yes. We’re selective about course teachers because depth matters more than catalogue size. Email us with the topic you’d like to teach, why you’re the right person, and a sketch of how you’d structure it.

Do you take advertising or sponsorships?

The platform runs primarily on memberships. Where we do work with sponsors or display contextual advertising, it’s clearly labelled and never influences our editorial choices.
